Our Commitment To Privacy

Your privacy is important to Challenge Labels and we recognize that the growth of online services has created many privacy concerns, particularly for consumers.

These concerns focus on protecting “individually identifiable” information that an individual or customer reasonably expects to be kept private. As the term suggests, individually identifiable information is information that can be associated with a specific individual or entity, such as name, address, telephone number, e-mail address and/or information about online activities directly linked to them.

To better protect your privacy we provide this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used. To make this notice easy to find, we make it available in the footer on every page of our web site.

The Information We Collect

At the time of connection to the Challenge Labels server, the page request is logged and the log entry contains the time and date of the request, the page being requested, the IP address of the requestor, and depending on the computer and browser being used, various other information including a list of acceptable content types and the type and version of browser being used.

This information (hereinafter referred to as [LOG_DATA]) is used to generate visitor statistics indicating the date, time, country, browser type, list of pages visited, and length of visit. These reports contain summary data and in no way provide any individually identifiable information. The reports may be archived for some time in order to provide long term trend analysis.

Once connected, the visitor is assigned the identification of “anonymous” and any further information supplied by the visitor to Challenge Labels is voluntary.

If the visitor wishes to provide comments on articles on Challenge Labels, post information on Challenge Labels, receive newsletters or announcements from Challenge Labels, or otherwise use any services of Challenge Labels that could be potentially harmful to Challenge Labels, it's visitors, or others; the user is required to first identify themselves by registering with Challenge Labels. The minimum requirements for registration is a user-name, and an eMail address that can be used to confirm the request for membership.

An attempt to confirm the request is made to the given eMail address and must be acknowledged before membership is granted. Once membership is granted, the user may add or change any personal information by editing their personal profile. The only information kept by Challenge Labels is the information contained in these profiles and this information is closely guarded by Challenge Labels to ensure that it is accessible to no-one without that user's permission unless required to do so by a court of law in order to defend the user or prosecute them for breach of Terms of Service.

The personal information (hereinafter referred to as [USER_DATA]) that can be added or changed by registered users include:

  • Username (for security reasons, cannot be changed)
  • eMail address (can be changed, but original verification eMail address archived)
  • Password (should be changed on first visit after sign-up and occasionally thereafter)
  • Language (defaults to Canadian English)
  • Personal Contact Form (optionally allows other users to contact you through a personal contact form with hidden eMail address)
  • Locale (adjusts event and other times to coincide with visitor's locale)

No further address or financial information is ever requested by, or archived by Challenge Labels. Any and all financial transactions are handled through a third party payment processor (PayPal) who verifies Challenge Labels, and guarantees the quality (and security) of their service.

The Way We Use Information

We use [LOG_DATA] to monitor our web site's performance. It indicates the quantity and interest of visitors along with any changing trends in that interest. It also informs us of any server down-time, bottlenecks, or other degradations in server performance and allows us to optimize our services.

Any [USER_DATA] that is supplied by the user is used to either identify the source of someone posting information or provide a customized level of service to that individual user.

On occasion, if a payment is received from a user on behalf of a third party, that third party may be notified that the payment has been made and showing the source of that payment.

We use return email addresses to answer the email we receive. Such addresses are not used for any other purpose and are not shared with outside parties.

You can optionally decide to receive any or all publications of Challenge Labels via eMail and that option is also selectable through the User Profile.

Finally, this information is never shared with outside sources unless ordered to do so by a court of law, or required in order to prosecute offenders of Challenge Labels's Terms of Service Agreement.

Our Commitment To Data Security

To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

Our Commitment To Children's Privacy

Challenge Labels joins the industry in recognizing that children, including young teens, may not be in a position to make informed choices about personal information requested online.

For that reason, Challenge Labels never collects or maintains information at the web site from those we know are under 13, and no part of our web site is structured to attract anyone under the age of 13.

Challenge Labels encourages any children under the age of 13 to seek the consent of their parents before providing any information about themselves or their households to anyone on the Internet.

Finally, Challenge Labels encourages parents to take an active role to protect the privacy and security of their children and to prevent the inappropriate use of information about their children. Challenge Labels supports the development of technologies that help parents control the collection and use of personal information from children who use online services in their households.
